Not sure what to say?

Sid was a great man working at the dairy he always did his job and no complaints as life goes on well always remember the times at terrace part dairy/ land o lakes rest in peace Sid

Sending my deepest sympathies to you and your family, Kathryn!

Sid was so tolerant of the noise we kids made in the house when he worked nights and was trying to sleep. Kim and I made grilled cheese once, and there was a small fire. He was less tolerant of that. I'll always picture him bringing us Ricky's chicken and his bottle cokes that he liked so much. Sid was sure to call my mom after dad died. He said alot of nice things that comforted her and some humorous things that were nice as well. I treasured the chafing dish he got for Mike and I for...

My condolences to my cousins, aunt, and the rest of the family. Sid was my uncle & included in some of my fondest memories with my cousins spending Christmas or swimming at Drake’s spring, or rides at Lollipop-park. Sledding at Tuthill.
But especially the backyard picnics usually at Delzer’s. We always had macaroni salad with cheese and ham, beans, and coleslaw, but the best of all was the Ricky‘s chicken! I crave the feeling of picnics with family in Sioux Falls-and hope to find myself...

My deepest condolences. Sending hugs and prayers to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace. I am so sorry for your loss.

Obituary

Sidney's Obituary

With heavy hearts and so much love, that we announce the passing of Sidney Alfred Barnes, 84, of Sioux Falls SD.  He passed peacefully at the Dougherty House in Sioux Falls, where, for weeks, he was surrounded by the love of family and friends.  Sid was born on July 15, 1941, to Wilbur Clifford Barnes and Geneva Bakke. He went to Bancroft Elementary school, Whittier Jr High, and Washington High School. Spending most of his working life at Terrace Park Dairy/Land O Lakes, he retired from there in 1992. When not working, he spent time enjoying his hobbies and doing volunteer work. He sat with hospice patients and took and taught classes through Active Generations.  He loved the sport of archery and enjoyed target practice and bow fishing. He also hunted for deer and wild game in the Fall. Other interests included Aikido and Yoga. He enjoyed hobbies and encouraged us to enjoy ours, too. He grew tomatoes, loved working with horses. and hiking, especially near Good Earth State Park. He was a movie fan, but most of all-he loved Rock & Roll. Well into his 80s, you could find him at various concerts and listening to bands around town.

Sid was united in marriage to Betty Barnes (née Delzer) in Sioux Falls in 1961. They had 3 children that he enjoyed taking along to archery outings, to Frosty Treat, the Drive Inn movie theater, Pizza Inn, Village Inn Pizza, the Zoo, Sherman Park, swimming at Drakes and sledding at Cardboard Hill. Sid cherished family gatherings and could often be found with his Polaroid camera, capturing moments and never missing a party for his great-grandchildren.

Sid was solid in his Christian faith and knew his future was in Paradise with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved discussing biblical theology and had strong faith in his salvation through the Grace of God. He spoke of the importance of James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?  Balanced with Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Sid did good things quietly.

Sid is survived by Betty Barnes, Sioux Falls, and their 3 children, Kimberly French (and Norman French, Harrisburg) Kathryn Barnes Weber (and Douglas Weber, Chicago) John Barnes (and Vonda Barnes, Sioux Falls). 2 grandchildren; Ashley Knobloch (and Rob Knobloch, Sioux Falls) Bronson French (Harrisburg). 4 great grandchildren; Aidan Knobloch, Gavin Knobloch, Lydia Knobloch and Deacon Knobloch.
