Sidney Harris Cohen, 77, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in his home.
Sidney, fondly known as Sid, was born to Abraham and Marge Cohen, on October 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sid graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University in 1968. Despite many late nights playing poker, he went on to graduate from Drexel University with a Master of Business Administration degree and continued with a very successful career in business. Sid was affectionately nicknamed “The Banker” by his family. He was very creative and an accomplished financial executive, building a successful textile company. Then he founded Strategic Capital Investments where he discovered a passion for advising distressed companies.
Sid is survived by his two sons, Robert (Allysa) Cohen and Scott (Sherri) Cohen, as well as his four granddaughters, Lauren, Sarah, Joelle and Maddison Cohen. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Robert) Dennis, his nephews, Andrew, Joseph, and Jonathan, and his beloved girlfriend, Jan Marshall.
As his mother, Marge Cohen, once said, ”There is nothing more enviable than an old head and a young heart.” Sid embodied this sentiment. Aside from his immense love and support for his family, Sid was passionate about playing golf in his free time (although his score never reflected his competitive spirit). He had a love for avant-garde art, vintage books, rare coins and was an avid collector of the unique. He loved nothing more than to fill his walls with new and intricate art pieces. He was well known for his constant sense of humor, in other words, constantly repeating the same dad jokes over and over.
