Sidney Michael Garcia, 62, of Tampa Florida passed away in the 9pm hour of June 30th 2024 at Empath Hospice at St. Josephs Hospital due to complications brought on by the treatment of his cancer.
Sidney was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky on March 22, 1962 to Juan Joseph Angle Garcia and Oswalda Edith (Stiassny) Garcia. As his father was in the military Sidney lived in multiple locations but mostly in Germany where he was fluent in the German language and graduated from Nuremberg High School, then his family finally settled in the Seattle Tacoma area in Washington State.
Brought together by fate in Seattle on Thanksgiving of 1989 Sidney met his soul mate Robert Anderson and in 1990 exchanged vows at a wedding ceremony performed by The Universal Life Church, however because marriage between same sex couples was not legally recognized in 1990, After moving to Tampa FL in 2006 Sidney again exchanged vows with Robert on March 20, 2015 when the federal government finally recognized same sex marriages.
Sidney's carrier spanned from being a lumber jack felling towering trees in the forest to working in a lumber yard sorting premium quality lumber for export at Barbie Mill in Seattle. Once the mill closed he was hired at Evergreen a company handling ground services at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport for airlines such as British Airways Eva Air and Asiana where he quickly made his way up to the position of Manager of Ground Services where he received numerous commendations for his excellence.
His other interest were in music specifically Disco dance music and was a DJ spinning and mixing records at LGBTQ+ clubs in the Seattle Tacoma area.
Sidney had a real zest for life, boyish good looks a great smile and a sparkle in his eye and in no time knew everybody in the room or the neighborhood, he would waste no time introducing himself and welcoming them, Everybody loved Sidney he had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back, people were just drawn to him and if you needed help he was there for you. Sidney was the only one I ever knew that would literally cry in front of the TV about sad stories they were reporting on the evening news.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Barbara Arnett of Grants Pass OR. Surviving in addition to his husband Robert Anderson are his sisters Carmen Balogh of Cape Girardeau MO, Theresa Garcia of Casper WY, brothers John Garcia of Puyallup WA, Robert Garcia of Jacksonville FL and Mario Garcia also of Puyallup WA.
Services will be reserved for close friends and family. Please make donations in Sidney's name to the charity of your choice.
God looked around his garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this Earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain.
He also knew in heaven,
You would never hurt again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills harder to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
If tears could build a staircase,
And memories a lane,
We'd walk all the way to Heaven,
And bring you home again.

Sydney, I miss your sassy attitude and your total honesty. And of course the mischievous look in your eyes. Earth has lost a sweet Human and a crusader for all furry four legged creatures. Yours was a life of many wonders and your home was a reflection of your warm heart. Your earthly presence will be missed, but Heaven has gained an Angel full of Piss and Vinager.

Will miss you dearly, dearest Sidney. Always kind, always fun, always hilarious. So many fond memories of get togethers at your place, and at Marty's, Mary's and Lisa's. Never too many laughs. You are now in peace my friend, rest easy. Much love to all those who you loved and who loved you, especially your Dear Bobby who you devoted your life to.
