Sidney Alvin Geffen, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, hard work, and devotion. Sidney was born on January 11, 1941, to Jack and Lee Geffen in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in a Jewish household, Sidney grew up in a loving home where his parents instilled in him the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. These values would shape him throughout his life and become the foundation of his character.
Sidney's life was a testament to the strength of family and the power of love. He met the love of his life, Dorothy, in his early years, and the two were married on April 29, 1962. Their union was a partnership that spanned more than five decades, built on mutual respect, affection, and shared dreams. Together, they raised two sons, Ron and Dave, both of whom Sidney was incredibly devoted to. He was a doting father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family, always ensuring they had everything they needed. Sidney's commitment to his loved ones was unwavering.
One of Sidney's greatest joys was being actively involved in his sons' lives. His love for family was evident in his role as a coach for his son Dave's baseball team, a responsibility Sidney embraced with passion and dedication. He cherished the memories of watching his children grow, supporting their endeavors, and always finding ways to be present in their lives.
One of the most cherished memories Sidney's children have is of a trip to the Statue of Liberty. Sidney, determined to make the experience memorable for his boys, led them up the stairs to the top of the statue. Despite his son Dave being small and exhausted, Sidney carried him all the way to the top, demonstrating his boundless love and devotion.
Sidney is survived by his son Ron and daughter-in-law Gema Geffen, his son Dave and daughter-in-law Amy Geffen, his granddaughter Robin and her husband David Adelman, his granddaughter Heather Lopez, and his granddaughter Ashley and her husband Michael Hager; His grandson Alexander Geffen. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Rylee, Layton, and Parker Hager, as well as Aleeya and Ariana Lopez. Sidney was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Geffen, his parents Jack and Lee Geffen, and his sister Francis Katz.
Sidney's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy will endure through the memories of his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. His life was marked by selflessness, humility, and a sense of duty to those he loved. Sidney's warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Sidney's graveside service will be held at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park, 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, located at 850 N. Cardinal Rd,
Azle, TX, 76020.
