Sidney Burns Ratliff

SIDNEY BURNS RATLIFF, 90, of the Little Prater section of Grundy, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Grundy, VA. Born at Little Prater, he was the son of the late Dewey and Corria (Ball) Ratliff. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Little Prater Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and Trustee. Sid graduated from Grundy Senior High School and later served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and worked many years as a mining electrician and mechanic. Sid was very loving and looked for ways to help others. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Kevin Ratliff and Barry Scott Ratliff; Brothers: Leon Ratliff, Donald "Duck" Ratliff, Russell Ratliff, Zed Ratliff and Benny Ratliff; sister, Evelyn Calhoun.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 68-years, Janice Sue Ratliff of Grundy, VA; Son: Bryan (Renee) Ratliff of Abingdon, VA; Granddaughter: Victoria "Tori" (Jarred) Corns of Dublin, VA; Great-Granddaughter: Mary Ellis "Ellie" Corns of Dublin, VA.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Little Prater Church of Christ Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for SIDNEY BURNS RATLIFF will be conducted Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Little Prater Church of Christ with Pastors: Ken Runyon and Mike Rife officiating with entombment to follow in Clinch Valley Cemetery, Richlands, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Little Prater Church of Christ.
