Sieglinde Davis Obituary

Sieglinde R. Davis, 88, of Etters, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Gustav and Charlotte (Hinz) Krawielitzki, born on July 16, 1937, in Königsberg, Germany.

From an early age, Sieglinde’s life was defined by strength and resilience. As a young girl, she and her family were forced to flee their hometown during World War II—a difficult experience that shaped her into the tough, independent, and determined woman her family came to admire.

She met her husband, Darrell, while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. military. Their first date—a trip to the theater to see Ben Hur—sparked a lifelong relationship. The couple married, raised three sons and a grandson, and moved to the United States in the late 1970s, settling at the New Cumberland Army Depot.

A devoted wife and mother, she worked for a time in cosmetic sales but found her greatest fulfillment in caring for her family and home.

Known for her spirited and competitive nature, she was a skilled bowler, earning more than fifty trophies over the years. She was equally enthusiastic about tennis, martial arts, and games of any kind—she always played to win. She especially loved soccer, and the FIFA World Cup was a celebrated event in her home. She proudly flew both German and American flags throughout the tournament, hosting lively gatherings—particularly when Germany was on the field. Of all the victories she witnessed, the World Cup win following the fall of the Berlin Wall held the greatest meaning to her.

She and her husband were longtime members of the former American-German Club in York and shared many years of travel throughout Europe and Canada, as well as a love of camping and the outdoors.

Known for her hospitality and energy, Sieglinde was the life of every gathering. Her home was a place of warmth, where family and friends gathered for holidays, picnics, and impromptu celebrations. She was an accomplished cook, best known for her schnitzel, rouladen, and rich mashed potatoes—made with plenty of butter, of course.

At home, she was a firm but loving mother. Becoming “Oma” to her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy of all. She took immense pride in her growing family, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Sieglinde is her loving husband of 64 years, Darrell E. Davis; sons, Raymond Davis (wife, Leah) of Mechanicsburg; Richard S. Davis of Harrisburg; and Roger E. Davis (wife, Nina) of Germany; grandchildren, Zachariah Raymond Davis, Eliana Grace Davis, Isaac Alexander Davis, Aaron Siegfried Davis, Eugene Henry Davis, and Jameson Eugene Davis; as well as a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all seven of her siblings.

A public viewing will take place from 2PM until a funeral service begins at 3PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Interment will be at 12:30PM on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Sieglinde’s name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
