Skip was born on December 24, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Sigmund and Helen(Frankowski) Sliwa Sr. He grew up in the Detroit area until he was 16, then he moved with his family to Houghton Lake from Allen Park. After moving to Houghton Lake, Skip met a young lady by the name of Carole Ann White. They were married on October 22, 1960 and have spent the last 64 years together. Skip owned and operated Skip's Sport Center and then Skip's Lounge. While in business in Houghton Lake he met a lot of great people and made many life long friends.
Surviving Mr. Sliwa are his loving wife, Carole Ann Sliwa of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Stacey and Darren Wischnack of Colorado, and Sheri Sliwa of Houghton Lake; sister, Rena (Frank) Sweirz of Okemos; brother, Mickey (Teri) Sliwa of Prudenville; several nieces and nephews. Skip was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Priscilla Overbaugh.
At the request of Mr Sliwa no services will be conducted. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Skip are asked to be directed to the American Stroke Association. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
