Silas Hurts

Silas Hurts passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 89, in Tucson, AZ.

He was born on December 1, 1935 in Evergreen, Louisiana, to Silas Hurts and Ivory Lavalais.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Hurts.

Survived by his children, Janet Harrison (Natasha Harris), Karen Stewart (Von Stewart)

and Patrick Hurts ( Abigail Hurts).

Grandchildren: Louis Stewart, Brianna Riley, Brittnee Harrison, Silas Stewart, Gabriel Harrison, Ryan Stewart, Evani Hurts, and Olivia Hurts.

Great grandchildren: Yzamarie, Andrell, Julian, Ian, Jeremiah, Gianna, A'aliyah, Janisa, and Jehu.

A host of other family members and friends.

Silas and Eva moved to Tucson, Az from Alexandria, La in 1961. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life, and loved collecting and creating his own knife

collection.

He was a kind and loving soul. He was selfless, and devoted to his family. A man

of principal, integrity, and moral values. He instantly became dad, grandpa and papa

to those who knew him. Family and friends enjoyed his sense of humor and his country

Cottonport, Louisiana stories. His presence will greatly be missed, and he will forever be in our hearts.

Services will be held on December 10, 2025, at Martinez Funeral Home, 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Viewing will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Silas will be laid to rest at

Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705. A celebration of his life will follow at Martinez Funeral Home with food and refreshments.
