Mrs. Siltha Mixon-Parrick, or "Lee" as she was fondly called, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 9:00 am Thursday, November 7, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
Lee was born the only child to Calvin and Maggie (Gandy) Gipson on July 16, 1933, in Georgiana, Alabama. She graduated from Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Alabama in 1953.
Shortly after graduation in 1954, she married John Mixon in Evergreen and later moved to Galesburg in 1957. John and Lee had five children, Larry Mixon, John Mixon, Katie Thomas, Patricia Mixon and the late William Tennent. Their family continued to grow with eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Her husband, John, passed away in 1981. Lee later married Fred J. Parrick in Galesburg on November 18, 1987, he preceded her in death in 1988.
Lee was proud to have worked for the Knox County Sheriff's Department as correctional officer for 20 years and 5 months, retiring in 1995. She was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 12p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Burial will follow at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Zachary Hunter officiating. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
