I first met Mrs. Chamis, mother of my dear friends Al and Bob, in the mid 70s. Al and I had apartments next to each other in upstate Penna for 2 years before he moved back to CT, and I had come up for a long weekend visit. Mrs. Chamis and her late husband Bob were gracious hosts, and made me feel very much at home. We talked baseball (their beloved Red Sox had just completed the classic World Series with the Reds) and she made sure I was well fed on Thursday night, and then again on Sunday afternoon before I headed back to Pa. It was quite apparent it was a home full of love! Over the years, Al would keep me abreast of how she was doing, especially after he and Gayle retired to FL. I was always amazed at how active and engaged she was despite her advancing years, and the love she had for "Nick the Quick" and his family. I will remember her for her kindness and dignity, and for the wonderful "job" she did in raising her sons. You cannot find 2 finer men than Al and Bob and I am grateful for our 50 year friendship. Thanks to their beloved mom and dad I am a better person for having both of them in my life. Sincerely, Bob Rock.

Alex, some of my fondest memories of Silva were on Sunday afternoons after playing touch football in the back yard. She was such a beautiful and wonderful person. Always smiling and welcoming us in for pizza, chips and sodas.
May she rejoice in Heaven with Dad and continue to smile down on us.

Silva came to our home from Florence,Italy. My mother and father opened their arms to this beautiful women( that´s how she was described to me as I got older). I am Silvia´s sister in law. Shortly after she came, I was born. I have been told that Silva took care of me as a babe in practice for the arrival of a son, Alex. As a child, Alex and I played together. Soon Bobby came along and joined the Chamis clan. Silva was like my mother in so many ways. She made sure I looked like a little girl, ( clothes and hair) when I was young and the day of the wedding ironed my gown, did my makeup and hair.
In the later years, my family moved to Florida. When we saw her, we had been inspired by her love of her Italian heritage. She talked a lot about her family. My daughter, Jen, visited her sister Ada in Florence and eventually Jen moved there. This is when we all become connected to beautiful Florence. She was a talented creative artist, a wonderful wife, and a great sister/Mom. I´ll never forget how beautiful she was! Love, Diane
