Cassaro, Silvana (Treviso)
ALBANY - Silvana (Treviso) Cassaro, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, after a brief illness. Born March 10, 1934, in Santa Teresa di Riva, Sicily, to Giuseppe Treviso and Concetta Riccio.
She married Antonino "Nino" Cassaro on December 30, 1954, and immigrated to the United States in 1956.
She is survived by her beloved children, Charles (Tammy), Joseph (Donna) Anthony (Karen) and Vera (John); also, by her grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas (Boudina), Nicole (Matt), Michael, Amanda (Miguel), Joseph (Courtney), Christina and Daniella; additionally, by her great-grandchildren, Silvana, Charlotte, Luca, Zelda, Vincent, Thomas, and Peter.
She was predeceased by her husband; and beloved grandson, John, who always held a special place in her heart.
She was sister to Lina Garufi (Albany) and Antonino Treviso (Sicily) who survive her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, both in the U.S. and Italy.
Silvana was a skilled seamstress by trade, she was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing and sharing homemade Italian meals for her family and friends and routinely hosted large gatherings.
She enjoyed gardening and traveling to her beloved hometown in Sicily, where she was able to visit with family and friends. Most often, she would travel with her family and shared her culture with all her grandchildren.
She was a devoted communicant of Mater Christi Parish and made annual trips to the St. Cosma's and Damiano feast in Utica.
Silvana will be remembered for her strong family values and the love she extended to everyone who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Silvana's family, Sunday, March 30, 2025, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany, N.Y. 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only.
Funeral services Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., (Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle Way), Albany, N.Y. 12208, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, immediately following the Funeral Mass.

Dear Tony, and Family,
I still remember Lila's stories about your Mom and he trips to Italy and all of the Family gatherings. All good Memories. The Weddings and Showers and the Christenings.
Love and Prayers as you go through another loss. I will think of you as you go through this process.
