Silvestre Vargas Jr.

McAllen - Silvestre Vargas Jr., 68, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023. Born in Hale Center, Texas, Silvestre lived in Edinburg most of his life. He met his forever love, Mary Jane in 1972 and married her 6 years later. They were inseparable and in love for over half a century. They had one daughter, Ines Vargas, in 1980 whom they loved very much. Silvestre gained a son-in-law, Amado Menez in 2008, and he became a grandfather a year later. Silvestre was Grampy to 2 beautiful granddaughters, Jacqueline Abigail Menez and Juliette Alexandra Menez. He was an honest and dedicated mechanic for over 50 years. His dream of owning his own mechanic shop came true in 1995. Together with his wife, he opened Silvestre's Truck & Auto Repair. He always said everything was all thanks to God. Silvestre was a faithful member of Iglesia de Cristo in Edinburg, TX. He preached about God to everyone he met up until the last day of his death, when God called him Home. Those who knew Silvestre will remember him for his generosity, fun-loving joking nature, and contagious smile. Silvestre loved traveling and taking trips in his RV with his wife. He liked going on hikes and enjoying God's creations. Silvestre knew the end was near and wrote to his wife and daughter that he was ready to be with God. He is greatly missed by those he left behind. The comfort we have is knowing that God's plans are greater than ours. Isaiah 55:8-9
