Simmie J. Pipkin, Jr. was born on March 26, 1936 to Deacon Simmie and Gertrude Pipkin in Paterson, New Jersey.
Simmie attended Public School #4 and Central High School. He later joined the US Air Force where he became an Airborn Radio Operator and flew on the Air ForceTroop Carrier C119. He was also an Air Force Officer. After the Air Force, he was employed at the Continental Can Company as a Quality Control Inspector.
Simmie attended William Paterson College in Wayne, New Jersey where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He later became a Social Worker for the City of Paterson and after that he became a Social Worker for the State of New Jersey in Marlboro where he retired after 20 years of Service.
Simmie was a faithful member of The Historic Calvary Baptist Church in Paterson, New Jersey all of his life. He was a member of the Chancel Choir, the Trustee Board and Senior Usher Board, he was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Mu Lambda Chapter, the American Legion Post #268, the Passaic County Culture Society and the Paterson Great Falls Rotary Club.
Simmie was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Simmie Sr. and Gertrude Pipkin, two brothers, John and Moses and four sisters, Trudy Pipkin, Frances Hinton, Ernestine Kearney and Myrtle Hawkins.
He is survived by three sisters; Dorothy Milner, Ethel Pipkin and Miriam Cornish.
He also leaves a great host of nephews, nieces, cousins and a circle of friends and acquaintances.
