Simon Jacob (SJ) Navo Jr., 85 yrs. old, beloved husband of Rowena Grundmeyer Navo for over 63 years, master of his loyal canine companion, Lexi, son of the late Simon J. Navo Sr., and the late Louise Betz Navo, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010. He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Navo and wife, Margie; sisters, Naomi Barbara, her late husband Vincent, sister Margaret Spreen, her husband Donald; sister-in-law, Pauline Navo, wife of his late brother Herman, and sister-in-law Helen Grundmeyer, wife of his late brother-in-law, Joseph A. Grundmeyer Jr. He was preceded in death by his late brother Melvin and his late wife, Verdune, brother Julian Navo; and his late sisters, Beverly Navo and Louise Mulette. He is survived by his very loving nephew, Joseph A. Grundmeyer III, and wife Karen of Katy, TX; his loving nieces, Shelley G. Belcher and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA; Lorianne G. Marcy and husband Michael of Melbourne, FL; great nieces and nephews, Joseph A. Grundmeyer IV of Virginia Beach, VA, Brandon J. Grundmeyer of Lafayette, LA, Mandie R. Grundmeyer of Lafayette, LA, Reagan M. Marcy of Melbourne, FL, and many more nieces and nephews. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and a 30-year member of Teamsters Local 270. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 7th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Catholic Mass beginning at 12:00PM. Burial will take place in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Memorial Masses are welcome, and in lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or 800-805-5856, or on-line at [email protected].
