Sister Rosaleen Krebs, SSND, 91, died December 3, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Heath System – Mankato.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato, with Visitation at 9:30; Sharing of Memories at 10:30; and a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00. Livestreaming will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@StJohnsMankatoMN. Burial in the Good Counsel Cemetery, Mankato, will follow at 1:30.
Sister Rosaleen (Viola Krebs) was born in New England, North Dakota. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1952 and professed First Vows in 1954. She taught primary grades in several Catholic Schools in Minnesota and North and South Dakota until 1988. At that time she came to Mankato and filled a number of roles on Good Counsel Hill and the Mankato Catholic School System. She served as a community leader (1988-1996); child care worker and later lead teacher in the infant room at MACS Care (1997-2002); nursing assistant in Good Counsel Health Care (2002-2003); and receptionist in the Loyola High School office (2003-2008). Beginning in 2008 she provided community service at Good Counsel, including creative work in the Hill’s Craft Room (her homemade noodles were a popular item at the annual Good Counsel Craft Fair).
Sister Rosaleen is survived by two sisters, Sister Rose Marie Krebs, SSND, and Sister Rose Anthony Krebs, SSND, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Rosie (Schmidt) Krebs, her sisters Susan Schroeder, Elizabeth Grundhauser and Violet Dobitz, and her brothers John, Nick, Joseph, Adam, Anton and Elmer.
