One of 14 children, he was born to Sixto and Magdalena Ortega on March 26, 1946 in McAllen, TX.
In 1963, he married Eloisa Ramirez and they went on to have four children before settling in Carrizo Springs, TX.
Sixto found joy in listening to music, working outdoors on his property, his many pets, his love for painting as a very talented artist, but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Maria Elena Ortega of San Antonio, Carlos (Veronica) Ortega of La Feria, Armando Ortega of San Antonio, Sixto Ortega III of Carrizo Springs, Britney (Leo) Carisales of Ft. Worth, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his brother Inocencio Ortega, and his sisters Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, Irene Monarrez, San Juana Cortez, and Herminia Garcia, in addition to numerous family members who all loved him dearly.
Although Sixto's physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit and his legacy will carry forth in the beautiful memories he leaves behind.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sixto and Magdalena Ortega and his siblings Natalio Ortega, Maria Rodriguez, Guadalupe Muñoz and Irineo Ortega.
