Lonnie Slade Bomer of Utopia passed away on August 21, 2021 at Peterson Regional Medical Hospital in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 21. He was born on June 7, 2000 in Kerrville, Texas to Lonnie Wayne Bomer and Amy Lanell (Gass) Roberts.
Slade was the type of individual that no matter what he did he put all his effort into that activity always giving 100%. Throughout his lifetime Slade was talented in many sports and activities attending state saddle bronc riding twice, state golf, and winning state tennis while attending Utopia High School. During his childhood Slade enjoyed playing baseball as pitcher and first base, he was chosen to be on the select team US in San Antonio. Slade was passionate when it came to roping; winning many buckles and saddles and placing in numerous team roping events, including the Donny Crow Memorial.
Slade was raised in Utopia and graduated Utopia High School in 2018; he was awarded a rodeo scholarship to Ranger College and pursued a degree in welding. Slade returned home and started different business endeavors that encompassed his love of the outdoors, including construction and training horses. Slade was an outdoorsman at heart, enjoying fishing or hunting in any downtime, he continually chased his passion of roping.
Slade will always be remembered as a well-mannered young man and for his strong firm handshake, tight hugs, and big heart.
He is survived by his mother, Amy Roberts and husband, Matthew of Uvalde, Texas and father, Lonnie Bomer and wife, Samantha of Utopia, Texas; grandparents, Don and Carrie Gass of Leakey, Texas , Elizabeth Bennett of Tennessee , and Emma Bomer of Utopia, Texas; sisters, Kylie May Bomer, Emmalea Grace Bomer and Kenadie Faith Bomer all of Utopia, Texas; and brother, Canyon Wayne Bomer of Utopia, Texas; as well as numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lonnie Bomer, Sr.; uncle, Larry Bomer; grandmother, Lue Ella Lubeouf; grandparents Donald Sr and Joy Gass, Mamy Greathouse, and Lynn Bennett.
Visitation will begin on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 3:00 p.m at Living Waters Church in Utopia. Interment will follow at Vanderpool Cemetery.
Gentleman serving as pallbearers will be, Dalton Boyd, Will Pollock, Jeep Skelton, Riley Hausler, Tray Gass, and Toby BomerIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Slade Bomer Memorial fund at 246 Beavers Trail, Uvalde, Texas 78801.
