Sobha Narla passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2024, with her family by her side in Hershey, Pennsylvania, after losing her battle with cancer. She was born on March 18th, 1952, to Dr. K. Raja Rama Mohan Rao and Pramila Devi in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Sobha graduated from Government College for Women, Guntur, in 1972 with a degree in B.Sc. (Biology) and then pursued a Diploma in Home Science from Cultural Academy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. On December 15th, 1976, in Hyderabad, India, Sobha married Gangadhar Narla, marking the beginning of their lifelong partnership. Together, they had three wonderful children: Anuradha, Deepti, and Sridhar.
As the youngest in her family, Sobha was known for her rebellious and mischievous spirit, often supported by her father, her favorite parent, in her shenanigans. As she matured, Sobha outgrew these traits and became a devoted and caring mother to her children.
Sobha was not only a skilled chef but also preferred to personally handle the cooking despite having maids available to assist in India.
She raised their children practically single-handedly, with her primary concern always being their well-being. Thanks to her dedication and love, the children grew up to be outstanding individuals. She had a heart of gold and always put others first.
Sobha is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Kommareddy Raja Ram Mohana Rao and Pramila Devi. She is survived by her husband, Gangadhar Rao Narla; her children, Anuradha Katragadda (Lakshmikanth), Deepti Kalagara (Yugandhar), and Sridhar Narla; her sister, Nirmala Pinnamenni (Ramakrishna); her brother, Prasad Kommareddi (Akhila); her three grandchildren, Eesha Katragadda, Mohan Kalagara, and Manas Katragadda; and her dear nieces, Susmitha Kolli (Srinivas), Suman Veeragandham (Ramesh), Roopa Dedhia (Neil), and nephew Sunil Pinnameneni (Dong Dan) and Rajesh Kommareddi (Jennifer).
Though Sobha has departed from our earthly world, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and numerous friends. She made an indelible impact on many lives that will never be forgotten.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Cremation prayers will start at 4:00 PM.
