She often spoke fondly of her idyllic childhood, surrounded by the warmth of her parents and the joy of her many brothers and sisters. Sofia's deep love for God was cultivated by her mother and the supportive community at La Betañia in Tijuana, B.C. After graduating high school, Sofia embarked on a journey to California in search of a brighter future. There, she spent her early adult years surrounded by family and friends, creating cherished memories in Santa Ana. A spirited soul, she loved the energy of the Disco era and was often found on the dance floor, enjoying life to its fullest. Determined to grow and adapt, Sofia challenged herself to learn English at Santa Ana College. It was during this time that she met, John Gonzales, whom she shared two children, Erika and John Jr. She dedicated her life to raising them and making sure they had everything they needed to succeed in life. Sofia was known for her deep love for her parents, her brothers and sisters, her children and grandchildren. She loved being Tia Sofia to all of her nieces, nephews, and their children. Despite suffering through a difficult health condition, her greatest strength came from being Abuelita to Maddox and Emmaline. She always did her best to keep a smile on her face for them. Sofia's legacy of love, resilience, and faith will forever be treasured by her family and all who knew her.
