Solveig "Sally" Angeline Wilde, age 74, of
Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at HealthPark Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Born on November 15, 1950, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Sally was the daughter of Hjalmer Braaten and Mildred (Lilleberg) Braaten. She grew up in Thompson, ND, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade and graduated from Central Valley School in 1968. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Florida Keys Community College in 1973.
Sally dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a floor nurse, Shift Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Nursing throughout her career. She also embraced her creative side as a photographer and salesperson in the family portrait business she ran with her husband.
On June 25, 1983, Sally married Michael Lee Wilde in Salina, Kansas, where they built a life together until his passing in 1987. Her journey took her across the country-from Marathon and Sarasota, Florida, to Freeport, IL, Salina, KS, Denver, CO, and finally Cape Coral, where she spent her final years close to family and friends.
Sally was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved cooking, baking, crafting, and reading, and she brought warmth and creativity into every space she entered. Her childhood was filled with love and adventure with her sisters Marian and Jeri and her brother Dick, her best friend growing up. She and her siblings even had a pet steer named Ferdi.
She is survived by her loving daughter Tracy Eckerle and son-in-law John Eckerle; her cherished grandchildren Jared Eckerle and Angelina Eckerle; her siblings Marian Hanson, Hjerdis "Jeri" Hamre, and Richard "Dick" Braaten; and her nieces and nephews Marcus Braaten, Christy Lardy, and Michael Braaten.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lee Wilde, who passed away on March 23, 1987.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Fuller-Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd S.,
Cape Coral, FL 33904, officiated by Bob Lockwood. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1839 SE 2nd Terrace,
Cape Coral, FL 33990. Sally will be laid to rest at Walle Cemetery in Thompson, North Dakota.
Sally's life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
