Sonia Rivas, 73, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Sonia was born in El Salvador. She then married and lived a life of a military wife, living many places before settling in Rockaway, NY. Sonia settled in Freehold in 1987. She was a private nanny until her retirement. With a true belief in God, she was a member of Hope Worship Center in Lincroft. Sonia had a passion for adventure which led her to be a world traveler and loved shopping. Family is what truly mattered to her most. Whether it was cooking for them or trips to Disney, being together is all that counted.
Sonia was predeceased by her parents, Raul and Clotide Mejia. She is survived by her three loving children, Sonia Fernandez of Freehold, Carol Jenkins and her husband, Joseph of Bayville, and Edgar Salinas and his wife, Rachel of Jackson; ten adoring grandchildren; three beloved great-grandchildren; and two devoted siblings, Marilyn Santiago and Raul Cea.
A memorial gathering will be held at Hope Worship Center, 270 Everett Road, Lincroft on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be private. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Worship Center online HERE. Arrangements by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
