Obituary of Frank Guarasi
Frank Guarasi, 93, of Howell passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Frank was born on December 24, 1931 in Lodi, New Jersey where he was raised and lived before settling in Old Bridge. He was a proud United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge, and a National Defense Service Medal.
After his service to his country, he married his first love, Maria in 1956. Soon after, they settled in Old Bridge, where they raised three children. He was passionate and actively involved in sports and coaching. Frank played softball well into his late 40's and despite popular opinion actually "invented" the head first slide. His coaching and mentorship to young people left a lasting impact on many lives. He continued playing sports such as golf and bowling well into his 80's. In fact, his all-time high near perfect bowling score was obtained at the age of 89. Frank was known for his kindness, generosity, empathy and belief to "always do the right thing". His love for family was evident in his deeds and continues to have an impact on three generations. Frank was loved and admired by many and will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Maria Guarasi. Frank is survived by his children, Robert Guarasi and his wife, Madhu of Bethlehem, PA, Maria Delaney and her husband, Patrick of Point Pleasant; and Michael Guarasi and his partner, Ana of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Karen Guarasi; seven grandchildren Gianna, Arman, Chelsea (husband Timothy), Gabrielle (husband Daniel), Samantha, Andrew and Nicholas; and three great grandchildren Delaney, Lennox, Cameron.
After the passing of his first wife, he met and married his second love, Mavis Guarasi. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Mavis. He is survived by two stepchildren, Mark Nialis and Dianne Nauialis both of California; daughter-in-law, Ellen Sharkey; step grandchildren, Dana (husband Ben) and Lisa; and two step grandchildren Remy and Nora.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, 840 Cranbury South River Road, East Brunswick.
