Sonja Trotta Obituary
Sonja graduated from Union Hill High School, class of 1956. She then attended Jersey City State College where she majored in Elementary Education, and graduated in 1961 with her Master of Arts degree in Education. There she met her husband of 46 years, Vincent Trotta, settling together in Ridgefield, New Jersey. A dedicated school teacher for over 30 years, Sonja began her career at Union City Edison Elementary School. She continued to work in Hudson & Bergen County Schools systems throughout her career until her retirement in 2000.
Sonja was predeceased by her husband, Vincent, who passed in 2005 and survived by her son, Frank Trotta, age 54 of Lake Tahoe, NV, and daughter Jan Chernick, age 49 of Ridgefield, NJ, her two grandsons, Gabriel and Benjamin Chernick, and her brother, Frank Francin, and sister, Dorthy McDonald.
The wake will be held on Wednesday, August 2, at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ave, Ridgefield, NJ, from 5 - 8 pm, and burial services on Thursday, August 3, at George Washington Memorial Park at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at alzfdn.org

First, I am so sorry for your loss, I hope you´re comforted in the loving arms of family.
Although I did not know Sonja, I had the privilege of being a student in your father´s 7th grade class and he played a pivotal role in the lives of all his students and in mine for sure. I´m sure your mom was one of these teachers we speak of as the great ones!
I am a teacher today in no small part because of the impact Mr Trotta then, (Dr) had on me. And I´m the small world story, your grandfather was a regular at my parents house doing carpentry work, love your family!
God bless you all, and again, please accept my heartfelt sympathies.
