Sonya Danner Coleman

SONYA MARIE DANNER COLEMAN, age 43, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, September 15, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Rick Hamilton and Father John Stephens officiating.
Sonya was born in Atlanta, GA on January 31, 1981. She was a member of Eastman First Methodist Church, a 1999 graduate of Dodge County High School, and later studied at Georgia Southern University and Kennesaw State University. She worked as a waitress while in college and later used her artistic skills as an interior decorator. She worked in interior decorating for many clients including country music star Kenny Rogers. She was a talented artist and worked on several murals in homes and spent countless hours drawing and crafting her art. Sonya also worked for the Dodge County Board of Education as a paraprofessional for several years at the Dodge Alternative Center (DAC). She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved animals and took in many stray animals over the years, and enjoyed gardening, drawing, and artistic crafts. Sonya was a free-spirited person and will be remembered and cherished as a friend to many. She was preceded in death by her father, Col. Alfred Danner, brother, David Danner and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her Son – Liam Coleman of Eastman, GA; Mother – Kathleen Reding Danner of Eastman, GA; Sisters and Brothers – Lisa Simmons (Darin), Eric Danner, Therese Leiser, Al Danner (Leann), Dawn Cox (Bill), Tom Danner, and William Danner; Nieces and Nephews – Anne Marie Fuller (Jeremy), Drew Danner (Kara), Nick Leiser, Heather Harp (Samuel), Daniel Danner (Emily), Bryan Leiser (Sidney), Ethan Danner, Jayda Danner, Evan Danner, Danner Simmons, Darci Simmons, Ashley Brawner, Laura Fischer, Heather Stanley, Allyson Archer, John Stevens, III, and Billy Cox, III; Numerous Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews; Aunts and Uncles – Marietta Reding Christopher, Linda Reding Ervin, Marty Reding, Ben Reding (Carolyn), Albert Holloway and Doug Maahs.
The family may be contacted at the Danner residence, 547 Edna Moore Rd., Eastman, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 2:00PM-3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Faithful Hearts Animal Shelter, 77 Industrial Blvd., Eastman, GA 31023.
