Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 10 am through 11 am at Ss. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Laurel Avenue, Roseland, NJ. A Funeral Ceremony will begin at 11 am with interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, NJ. Funeral Services are entrusted to Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, Roseland, NJ, shookfarmer.com
Born in Athens, Greece in 1938 to the late Michael and Flora Venetis. She immigrated to the United States at the age of seven, settling in Newark. She lived in West Orange and settled in West Caldwell in 1972. For many years, she owned and operated the Food Train Restaurant in East Orange with her late husband, George L. Petinakis. She went on to work at B&D prior to retirement. Sophia enjoyed entertaining and cooking with loved ones, and prided herself on being an excellent host. She relished her summers in Greece. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family.
Pre-deceased by her first husband, George L. Petinakis, her second husband, Miltiades N. "Milton" Pantazis, and her siblings, Helen Koutouzakis and William Venetis.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Flora DePalma and her husband Dennis Jr. and Maria Colitti and her husband Michael Jr.; cherished grandchildren, Sophia DePalma, Sophia Colitti, Dennis DePalma III, and Michael Colitti III.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ss. Nicholas, Constantine, & Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
