Sophia Shannon, revered as a pillar of strength, love, and unyielding positivity, passed away on December 18, 2024, at the young age of 51 in Altamonte Springs FL.
Born on September 27, 1973, in Orlando, FL, to Queen Shannon and Roger Wilson. Sophia was known for her warmth, generosity, and undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.
Sophia will be lovingly remembered by her beloved parents, Queen Shannon and Roger Wilson. Her children were Jerika Thompson, Taylor Bellavance, Elexis Finelli (Joseph Finelli III), Spenser Schmidt, and Jeremy Russell. Sophia's grandchildren; Joseph Finelli IV and Tallulah Finelli. Her siblings: Steven Wilson (Naranda Wilson), Tamara Wilson, Yolanda Ferguson (Garth Ferguson), Chris, Shyaam and Candace Wilson and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
With a hefty family tree and a family consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Sophia's reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Among Sophia's most significant accomplishments were her five children, whom she held as her pride and joy. She served as an RX Pharmacy Representative at AdventHealth for the last five years of her life. Yet, even amidst the challenges life brought her way, Sophia never wavered in her faith and compassion for others. She continued to support her family and extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. Even with little to spare, she continued to give and help others. Even when sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself. Her life served as a testament to her philosophy, "You can be a survivor or you can be a victim. " and "The world moves on, even when we're not ready."
A Celebration of Life for Sophia will take place on December 28, 2024, at 3:00 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory with reception to follow. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed. Sophia's loss is deeply felt by her immense family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

I met Sophia via Teams due to our roles being remote. She was always helpful to me behind the scenes. My last chat with her was on 12/16/24 after 2PM and I found myself scrolling through our initial chat in July. I simply reached out just ask how she was feeling and we developed an amazing bond ever since. Although I never saw her beautiful face in person, I was graced to meet her beautiful soul remotely. To her family, friends and loved ones, please know that my family and I sending our heartfelt condolences to you during this difficult time. Remember and know that she was truly one in a million & I want to thank you all for sharing her with me. I am also sending you my virtual hugs to ease the pain you may be feeling. Continue to love as she loved. Continue to spread joy and cheer as she did. She left some stilettos to fill, but together, we can continue where she left off. She taught us well. She loved unconditionally. Her faith was unceasing. She left an imprint on my heart that I will continue to hold close to me. Love The Swaby & Bell Family (Love You Sophia)
