Sotiria Karagounis "Rula" Poulos

Sotiria "Rula" Karagounis Poulos passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1953 in Kerasochori, Evrytanias, Greece to the late Penelope and the late Andreas Karagounis.Rula was an active member of both Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church and St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox church. Rula was also an active member of the Daughters of Evrytania and the Philoptochos society. Rula was preceded in death by her loving husband Gus Poulos and is survived by her cherished son, Tommy, by her three sisters, Katerinia Raptis and her husband George Raptis, Elli Kontogiorgos and her husband Chris Kontogiorgos and Fotini Tsopanas. She is also survived by her four brothers, Pete Karagounis and wife, Lambrini Karagounis, George Karagounis and his wife Liz Karagounis, Kostas Karagounis, and Steve Karagounis, her sister in laws, Savoula Demas of Greece,, Mary Gallis and her husband Bill Gallis of Indian Trail, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews in and around the Charlotte area and Greece. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Panagia Proussiotissa-Elatos Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 24th, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews. Heritage Funeral Home Weddington Chapel is assisting the Poulos family.
