Stacey Marlyn Nelson, 60, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Detroit Lakes, MN, from injuries sustained in a car accident. Stacey was born on January 16, 1964, to Marlyn and Diane (Kronbeck) Nelson in Moorhead, MN.
He grew up in Hawley, MN, where he attended and graduated from Hawley High School in 1982. During his junior year of high school, he joined the national guard being enlisted for 12 years. After high school, he remained in Hawley where went to school for autobody. He attended and graduated from M-State in Moorhead, MN, with an associates degree related to computer science. He then began his career at Northern Micro working with microchips. The remainder of his life, he worked various construction jobs to do with roofing, home improvement, and metal fabrications.
Stacey loved to visit with his family and friends, usually with a cup of coffee or a beer in hand. He enjoyed watching Nascar, playing cards, dice, or darts. He also enjoyed working on cars if there was a car to work on.
Stacey is survived by his children, Jason (Jordan) Nelson, Joleen (Jason) Cihak, Jaycie George, and Grace Walz; grandchildren, Carter Nelson, Xander and Haydn Ridley, Luka and Cooper Cihak; siblings, Rachel (Gary) Storms and Zach (Kim) Nelson; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Renee and Robin Nelson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., with a time of sharing beginning at 3:30 P.M., Friday, October 18, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. A livestream of the time of sharing will be available here on Stacey's webpage. A private family graveside service will be held at Lake Ida Cemetery, at a later date.
