Stacy S. Gilhart , 66, a resident of Vernon Hills, IL, passed away December 28, 2025. He was born December 9, 1959 in Los Angeles, CA to Stuart and Shirley (Jorgensen) Gilhart.
Stacy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan (Downes) Gilhart, his daughters Erin (Russell) Gates, Megan Gilhart, and Molly Gilhart, his grandchildren Liam Gates, Finley Gates and Owen Gates, and his sisters Sandra, Sherri and Shelley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation and mass are scheduled for January 10, 2026 at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US 45, Indian Creek, IL 60061; visitation from 9:30 am until 10:30 am with the mass commencing at 10:30 am. Internment will be held privately.
Stacy was a self-taught entrepreneur who worked at various occupations, including law enforcement, but, most notably, 35 years in the demolition field where he eventually owned and operated Meridian Industrial Service.
Along with being an avid reader and skilled carpenter, Stacy's favorite pursuits always involved the great outdoors; he was a ardent hunter, angler, golfer and yachtsman. He was also well-traveled and acquainted with most of the United States and various countries overseas.
But Stacy's greatest passion was always his loving wife and daughters who counted on him daily to be a guiding counselor and tireless provider. His kindness, wisdom and humor can never be replaced, and he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
