Stanley Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jan. 23, 2026.
CARTER, Stanley B., age 74, of New Vienna and formerly of Waynesville, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Optimize Nursing Facility in Lebanon.

Stanley retired in 2022 as an independent truck driver after more than 15 years on the road. He took great pride in his long-haul trips and truly loved life behind the wheel, often traveling throughout the western United States and into Canada. His truck was more than a job; it was a passion.

Before his trucking career, Stanley was deeply rooted in farming. He was the farm manager for Woody Bowman and leased land for farming throughout the 1980s. He loved the outdoors and found great fulfillment in working the land, raising cattle, and tending to his farms. Gardening was another joy of his life, especially growing sweet corn, which he generously shared with neighbors, family, and friends. Whether he was in his truck or out in the garden, Stanley was happiest working with his hands and being outdoors.

Stanley was known for being giving, caring, and friendly, and he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He never hesitated to hold a door for someone and always treated others with kindness and respect. With a heart of gold and a gentle spirit, he was simply a very sweet man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Among many things, Stanley will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of farming and trucking, his generosity toward others, and the quiet kindness he showed every day.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Grace Carter, and his brother, Jeffery Carter. He is survived by his son, Stanley "Michael" (Gianni) Carter- Zamperlini; his daughter, Jamie (David) Smith; his three grandchildren, Emily, Aleiya, and Chase; his brother, Gary Carter; his three sisters, Sharon (Craig) Chittum, Shirley (Ralph) Pappenheimer, and Gloria Thornton; and his close friend, Belinda Shaw Hatfield.

A celebration of life service will be announced in the spring. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at https://www.stubbsconner.com.
