Stanley Cox Obituary

Stanley Kermit Cox passed away at home December 2, 2024. He was born November 20, 1940 in Key Rock, WV to Kermit and Melissa Baldwin Cox.

Stan graduated from Catawba College in 1963 and did post graduate work at UNC. During his early career, he worked at Templon Spinning Mills and upon retirement, he was CEO of General Microcircuits, Inc. in Mooresville, NC.

Stan was an Army Reserve Veteran of the Vietnam War. His church membership was First Reformed Church in Landis.

He was a multitalented and creative artist who was known for his vast knowledge of automotive car design and fabrication. With record holdings in road racing, he was a racing enthusiast.

A self taught luthier, he enjoyed music and working with stringed instruments. He often referred to himself as an applied physicist.

Stan was known as the man in the striking shirts.

Preceding in death are his parents and brothers, Orval and Bob Cox. Surviving his demise are his wife of 55 years Suzanne Swain Cox; daughter Suzanne Phillips; son-in-law Blair Phillips; the sunshine of his days, his granddaughters, Ava and Ella Phillips; brother Randall Cox (Betty) and devoted nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

A man whose life was defined by generosity, his selflessness was a testament to his character. He will be remembered in the countless lives he helped along the way.

The family will receive friends at First Reformed Church Landis on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at First Reformed Church with Rev. David Franks officiating. Graveside service to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Contributions can be made in Stan's honor to First Reformed Church, 210 North Central Avenue, Landis, NC 28088.

Hello family! When I think of Stanley I always smile. He made a point to always thanking me for taking care of Dad or whomever I was assisting at the time. It is so comforting to know someone understands and always cares. He is remembered with love!!
