Stanley Huston

Stanley Richard Huston was born on July 12, 1946 to Roger & Charlotte Huston in Albion, Michigan. He went to be with his Savior on August 28, 2017.

Rich lived across the Midwest during his childhood. At the age of 12, he lost his dad who died in a plane crash. A few years later his mother remarried, and Harry Huddleston became a father to him and his four siblings, and then one more sister came along.

Rich attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Kansas where he met Gloria Duba. They wed on December 23, 1966, and were married for over 50 years. Together, they had three sons. While working on the railroad, Rich signed up for the Marine Corps in anticipation of the draft for Vietnam. He served honorably for ten years, including a tour in Vietnam and Okinawa, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

Rich and Gloria then moved with their boys to St. Paul, Minnesota where he began his life-long profession of truck driving. He would continue driving for Daggett Truck Line when the family moved to Vergas, Minnesota in 1982.

In the 1990s, Rich developed health problems, starting with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer and then heart issues. This would cause him to retire from the road sooner than expected, though he continued to work for Daggett at their home office.

Rich spent his final years on his primary passion: serving God by serving others. Whether at Northwoods Assembly in Perham, or regional ministries like Never Give Up’s Suicide Prevention, The Matthew House halfway house, or facilitating chapel services at Perham Living.

Rich loved talking about God’s Word, in Bible studies with friends or one-on-one conversations. Sharing the Gospel in word and action, and growing as Christ’s disciple. This is what mattered most.

Deeply loved, Rich’s passing is mourned by his wife Gloria, his sons Roger, Chris, and Jeff, his sisters Saunny, Judy, Shari, and Shana, his brother Steve, and so many other family members and close friends who were grateful to know him.


Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Burial will be made 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, 15550 Hwy. 115, Little Falls, MN 56345.
