Stanley Robert Jamrog passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025 at the Niche Aging Center - Hampton. He lived a remarkable life, reaching the age of 101 years.
Stan was born on May 6, 1923, as the youngest son of the late Robert and Josephine (Liss) Jamrog. After graduating from Central High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aviation Ordinance Supervisor. Upon returning home, he swept the love of his life, Elaine M. Wongrowski, off her feet, and they were united in marriage on April 30, 1949. They shared 72 beautiful years together before Elaine's passing on March 23, 2021.
Stan had a passion for baseball, playing on a team during his time in the Navy and for many years with the St. Stan's AC team in the Bay County Baseball Federation. He dedicated 37 years of his life to a career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring as a branch sales manager. Stan was also a devoted lifetime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish - St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a lifetime member and Past President of the St. Stan's AC. His other memberships included the St. George Society, Bay City B.P.O.E. Elks #88, PLAV Post 162, and the Met Life Insurance Company Retirees. Stan enjoyed spending time up north at hunting camp and taking every opportunity to golf, hobbies he was fortunate to enjoy for many years, well into his 90's. His greatest joy was spending time with his FAMILY, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Stan's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his family: daughter, Cindy (Joe) Gilles; grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Gilles and Janelle (Jason Reese) Gilles; great-grandchildren, Riley and Logan; special nieces, Jan (Dennis) Musinski and JoAnne Jamrog; great-nephew, Bradley (Kelly Orsi) Musinski; special caregiver & friend, Geri Drzewicki as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife Elaine, Stan was preceded in death by his brothers John, Sylvester, Otto and Aloysius "Al".
The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Rite of Committal and entombment will follow at St. Patrick Mausoleum. Military honors will be presented under the auspices of the US Navy. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, March 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.
