Stanley Willis Jantz, 80, died March 22, 2022, at his home in Hoisington. He was born September 1941, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Charles and Lila (Hays) Jantz. Stanley graduated from Newton High School in 1959. He married Lana Sue Brooks on May 26, 1963 in Scott City, Kansas. They later divorced.
A long-time resident of Hoisington, Stan worked as a Hoisington Police Department officer, an EMT, and an employee of the sanitation department. Stan was passionate about his hobbies of cooking and photography.
Stan was a member of the Great Bend Church of the Nazarene, the Lions Club, the American Legion Argonne Post #180, the Christian Motorcyclists Association, and the Prairie Minutemen Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution where he served as vice-president and helped establish the Daughters of the American Revolution in Ellsworth.
Survivors include four children; Carrie (Bruce) Bitter of Hoisington, Sheldon (Pam) Jantz of Colorado Springs, CO, Ashton (Jill) Jantz of Newton, and Nikki Noah (Shawn Finger) of Hoisington; six grandchildren, Danielle (Jeff) Black, Bradon Bitter (fiance,Taylor Nett), Kayleigh Bitter, Kyla Jantz, Erik Jantz, Desmond Noah, and Brinttain Noah (fiance, Kahlie Miller); one great-grandson; two sisters, Cynthia Hoskins and Jerri Mitchell, both of Wellington, Kansas; two brothers, Pete Jantz of Wellington, Kansas, and Dan Jantz of Craig, CO; nine nieces and nine nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlotte Shaffer.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Josh Foster and Don Fisher presiding. The family will greet guests prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Memorials have been designated to the American Legion Argonne Post #180 of Great Bend in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
