Harold Gregg Obituary

Dr. Harold M. Gregg, 79, Retired Dentist, died Friday, February 13, 2026.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, February 16, 2026, at Congregation Emanu-El at the Joan S. Beren Jewish Community Center.

Born in Newton in 1946, Harold graduated from Newton High School in 1964. He graduated magna cum laude from Kansas State University in 1969. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1973, magna cum laude. Upon graduation from dental school, he served in the U.S. Public Health Service as a dental officer for three years in Cape May, NJ. He began his dental practice with Dr. Earl Sheets in the Old Mill Plaza in Newton, KS. He was later joined by Dr. Thomas Bette. Dr. Gregg retired after more than 40 years of dentistry in 2013.

After retirement, he was a volunteer at the Kansas Food Bank and consulted for Delta Dental.

Harold was a member of Congregation Emanu-El, was a life member of the American Dental Society, and a life-long member of the Seventh District Dental Society. He sat on the board of the Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra and the Newton Children's Theater. He also was a member of the Newton Rotary Club.

He enjoyed performing with the Newton Community Theater for many years. He was a generous supporter of the Wichita Art Museum, the Ulrich Museum of Art, the Kansas Food Bank, and the Wichita Family Crisis Center.

He was a devoted husband to Evy for 51 loving years. In addition, he was an incredible father, Popi, uncle, friend, and proud Newtonian. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished his times with them.

In his free time, he was an avid antiquer, reader, flower arranger, and gardener. He and Evy enjoyed traveling and cruising for many years.

Harold was a kind and gentle soul and he will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Marion Gregg; brother, Dr. Richard Gregg; grandson, Ewald Larley Gregg.

Survived by his wife, Evelyn "Evy" Gregg; sons, Matt (Taylor High) Gregg, Adam (Jenny) Gregg; grandchildren, Ava Pearl Gregg, Isabel Gregg, Jack Ira Gregg; nieces, Beverly Stanley, Stephanie Brondani, Kathy Gregg; sister-in-law, Dianne Gregg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with: Congregation Emanu-El, 1850 N. Woodlawn Blvd., Wichita, KS 67206; Kansas Food Bank, 1919 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67211; Newton Community Foundation, 400 S. Main, Ste. 100, Newton, KS 67114; Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation, 1850 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS 67208.
