Stanley R. “Spud” Miller, age 66, died peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the comforting presence of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1958, in Dixon, IL, the son of Ronald “Ronnie” and Mildred “Millie” (Canode) Miller. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1976. He married his soulmate, Sheila Leek on October 7, 1989, in Davis Junction, IL. He worked for the family business (Miller’s Blasting Service) for several years where he retired as a member of the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150. Embracing life in its entirety, Spud found comfort in the presence of family, friends, and most of all, his loving wife. He was a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spent every Sunday he could worshipping at Beacon Hill Church in Byron, IL. Preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Millie Miller, his son David Miller, mother-in-law Marlene Leek, sister-in-law Shelly (Leek) Abate, and brother-in-law Butch Farbo. Spud’s legacy continues through his enduring wife, Sheila, of 35 years and their children: Jaime Hart of Rockford, IL; Landi (Tom Jr.) Stone of Chana, IL; and Ryan (Sarah) Miller of Darien, Wi. Spud is also survived by father-in law Jim (Irene) Leek of Paducah, KY; siblings Steve (Sue) Miller of Freeport, IL; Vicki Farbo of Byron, IL; Stacy (Trina) Miller of Surprise, AZ; Tania VanBriesen of Stillman Valley, IL; 13 grandchildren Taylor (Taylor), Matthew (Tabatha), Bryan, Kaila, Kaiden, Cameron, Mason, Aubree, Brandt, Sydney, Cody, Cole, and Brody; 3 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. In addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In recognition of the unwavering support from Pastor Gary Cortese, Serenity Hospice and Home, and Quick Supply, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.
