Stanley R. “Spud” Miller, age 66, died peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the comforting presence of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1958, in Dixon, IL, the son of Ronald “Ronnie” and Mildred “Millie” (Canode) Miller. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1976. He married his soulmate, Sheila Leek on October 7, 1989, in Davis Junction, IL. He worked for the family business (Miller’s Blasting Service) for several years where he retired as a member of the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150. Most recently he was a proud employee of Quick Supply in Amboy, IL in the role of Account Manager. He enjoyed playing golf earlier in life with his father and brothers. Together with his biker babe Sheila, he traveled to multiple states on their Harley Davidson. Listening to Elvis and Christian music could always bring him joy as well. He also had a passion for helping the less fortunate through philanthropy. In addition, he regularly attended football games. He especially liked to go to Soldier Field to cheer on the Chicago Bears. Embracing life in its entirety, Spud found comfort in the presence of family, friends, and most of all, his loving wife. He was a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spent every Sunday he could worshipping at Beacon Hill Church in Byron, IL. Preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Millie Miller, his son David Miller, mother-in-law Marlene Leek, sister-in-law Shelly (Leek) Abate, and brother-in-law Butch Farbo. Spud’s legacy continues through his enduring wife, Sheila, of 35 years and their children: Jaime Hart of Rockford, IL; Landi (Tom Jr.) Stone of Chana, IL; and Ryan (Sarah) Miller of Darien, Wi. Spud is also survived by father-in law Jim (Irene) Leek of Paducah, KY; siblings Steve (Sue) Miller of Freeport, IL; Vicki Farbo of Byron, IL; Stacy (Trina) Miller of Surprise, AZ; Tania VanBriesen of Stillman Valley, IL; 13 grandchildren Taylor (Taylor), Matthew (Tabatha), Bryan, Kaila, Kaiden, Cameron, Mason, Aubree, Brandt, Sydney, Cody, Cole, and Brody; 3 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. In addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In recognition of the unwavering support from Pastor Gary Cortese, Serenity Hospice and Home, and Quick Supply, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11 AM at the Red Brick Church, 207 Roosevelt Street, Stillman Valley, IL with Pastor Gary Cortese officiating. The Visitation Will be Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Farrell-Holland- Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established in Stanley Miller’s name and may be directed to the family.
