Stanley J. Pentkowski
Rutland Town - Stanley J. Pentkowski, 78, of Rutland Town and formerly of Pittsford, died Saturday February 3, 2024, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Proctor on June 19, 1945, the son of Chester and Jennie (Worosila) Pentkowski. He grew up on a farm on Route 7 in Pittsford where he enjoyed working side by side with his father and developed a love of the land and being outdoors.
In 1965, he married the love of his life, Louise Bauer. Stan and Louise had two daughters, Barbara Jean and Ann Marie, whose middle names were in honor of his sister, Jean Marie, who died as a young girl.
Stan spent most of his career as a lineman at New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. which ultimately became Verizon. After his retirement from the phone company, he spent several years in electrical contracting, a job he really liked.
Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his dog, Sam, and meticulously caring for his home and property. He was always happy when he was on his beloved tractor. He also loved is role as "Grampy" and spent a lot of time with his grandchildren over the years as they grew up.
Stan was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Chet Pentkowski and his sister. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Barbara (Chris) Carmichael, Ann Pentkowski, his three grandsons, Tyler John (T.J.), Parker and William Carmichael, his brother-in-law, Bill (Donna) Bauer and his brother's family.
A Mass of Christian burial and internment will take place in the spring. Arrangements are with the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
