PIOTROWSKI, STAN, 81, of Stone Harbor, NJ, formerly of Lower Providence, Montgomery County, PA, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
He was born January 24, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to Stanley and Stella Piotrowski. Stan attended North Catholic High School where he ran track, competing in the Penn Relays, participating in the Varsity Follies, Musicals, etc. He attended LaSalle College majoring in Chemistry, Graduate School at Penn State University majoring in Metallurgy.
He began his career at American Steel and Wire Division of U.S. Steel, was Supervisor and Plant Manager at Alan Wood Steel for over 20 years. He became Plant Manager for Alabama Byproducts at the Alan Wood Plant, and consulted for several years in Fuel Technology. After his retirement, he worked in real estate with his wife Joan where he became famous as the "Recipe Man". Stan was President of the Philadelphia Coal Club, served as Board Member with Coal and Coke Associations throughout the States.
Stan is sadly missed by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Lori Hogan and her husband Brian, and Lynn McLaughlin and her husband Frank; grandchildren Alexandra and Geoffrey Hogan, Megan and Rebecca Piotrowski, and Laura and Frankie McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Stanley Piotrowski Jr., his parents Stanley and Stella Piotrowski, and his siblings Henry Piotrowski and Dorothy Huntowski (Joseph). He will also be missed by nieces, nephews, and many great friends.
Stan and Joan vacationed with their family in Stone Harbor for over 50 years, purchased their home in 1977 and made Stone Harbor their full time residence in 2001.
Stan was very dedicated to his community and volunteered for Holy Redeemer Food Bank. He was a member of Stone Harbor Lions Club where he was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2007. He also ushered and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish St. Paul's Church.
Stan enjoyed singing with the Seven Mile Singers, and visiting the Nursing Facilities and participating in their functions. Villa Maria by the Sea has been special to Stan, especially cooking with the Nuns for the Surfing Contest each year in September. American Heart Association Walks were a big part of his life.
Stan was the happiest when all of his family, children, and grandchildren surrounded him. There was no limit to his love as he embraced everyone with kindness and compassion. Stan loved music, cooking, fishing with his family and friends, his vegetable garden, and cheering for his grandchildren in all of their endeavors. He kept everyone around him laughing with his effortless sense of humor and good nature.
Always positive and smiling, he was a treasure to his family and friends. His faith knew no boundaries as he raised his family with an abundance of love so that they too would carry on his fundamental love and respect for each other and of humanity.
Stan will remain in our hearts, as we remember his twinkling eyes, hearty laugh, and bright smile, he will never truly be gone.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish St. Paul's Church, 99th Street and Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, with Funeral Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clermont.
