Stanley Daniel Prue, age 81 of Appleton, passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer on Friday October 14, 2022. He was born May 31, 1941 in Appleton to Maynard and Ione (Sager) Prue. Stan graduated from Appleton High School in 1960. In 1964 he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and was ranked SGT. E5. His stay was Headquartered 2D Rgn Aradacom at Richards-Gebaur AFB in Missouri and was a Cryptographer there and served until 1966 when he was honorably discharged. Stan worked at Fox River Paper for over 40 years and probably never missed a day.
Stan married Nancy (Zemlock) Mikkelson on June 14, 1975 and celebrated 47 years of marriage this past June. He lovingly cared and provided her three children when he entered his marriage to Nancy. One of his greatest joys was bowling. He loved the game and those he bowled with throughout the years. Among many local titles that Stan won he was most honored to be voted on by his peers as a member of the Fox Valley Bowling Hall of Fame. If Stan wasn't on the lanes he was up at his parents cabin at Roberts Lake in Wabeno. You could find him fishing, playing cards and cribbage or just sitting by the fire with his guitar playing "Green Green Grass of Home." with all the family. He enjoyed horsehoes and watching sports but later in life it was all about his puzzle books and his love for word games.
Stan is preceeded in death by his parents Maynard and Ione Prue. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gordon Prue. Surviving in addition to his loving wife Nancy (Zemlock) Mikkeson, are his stepson, Timothy (Laura) Mikkelson; grandchildren, Aric, Sara (Austin) Niemi, Joseph (special friend Jennifer Kuehne). Stepdaughter Paula Mikkelson. Stepdaughter Linda Mikkelson; grandchildren Caleb Burr (special friend Rachel Sullivan) Seth Burr, Ethan Burr. He is also survived by sisters: Bev (Don) Burroughs, Susan (Don) Jarek, Phyllis (Thomas) Lemmers. One brother Steven Prue. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and wonderful brother and sister-in-law's that loved him very much.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice out of Green Bay.
