Stanley Schwing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Hill Mortuary & Memorial Gardens - Cedar Hill on Mar. 12, 2026.
Schwing, Stanley R. of St. Louis, Missouri, formally from Eureka Missouri, was born December 6, 1933 in Valmeyer, Illinois to Edward and Lillian (nee Cobb) Schwing and entered into rest Thursday, March 5, 2026 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian (nee Cobb) Schwing; son, Carl Schwing; and sister, Janette Marxkors.

He is survived by his wife; Alice (nee Kaegel) Cartwright-Schwing; son, Todd Schwing; daughter-in-law Brenda Schwing-Triplette; step-children, Steven (Terry) Cartwright, and Sheri (Ed) Haas; seven (7) grandchildren, eleven (11) great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Ron) Trimmer; along with numerous other extended family and friends.

Stanley "Stan" Schwing will be remembered for the joy he found in life's simple pleasures and the love he shared so freely with his family. He had a passion for riding his bicycle and staying active, always appreciating the freedom and peace that came with exercise. The Lake of the Ozarks held a special place in his heart, and his lake house was where many of his favorite memories were made-relaxing on the dock, boating, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the beauty of the water. He enjoyed a successful career, and after retirement loved sitting on the front porch in Hoene Springs with Alice and reading a book or spending the afternoon watching football.

Stan loved the Lord and attending church at St. Mark's. He loved to sing hymns and attend Bible Study. Some of their closest friendships came from church and they enjoyed spending time with their friends in their monthly Supper Club. We know that Stan is in heaven with Jesus and we look forward to the day when we will be with him again! Above all, Stanley's greatest pride and happiness came from his family. He deeply loved his wife and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. His warmth, steady presence, and appreciation for time together will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Stan to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or to The Alzheimer's Association.
