Stanley Stewart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2024.
Stanley James Stewart "Jim" passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, in Spokane, Washington from natural causes secondary to Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on November 6, 1941, in Gillette, Wyoming, to Stanley Vern Stewart and Myrtle Agnes Stewart (Johnson). Jim is survived by his wife, Juliana Stewart of Bonita Springs, Florida; his children Andrea Broemmeling and husband Rick of Spokane, WA, Daryn Stewart of Spokane, WA, James Stewart and wife Jacqueline of Colorado Springs, CO; and Sarah Stewart of Spokane, WA. He has two stepdaughters, Tanya McGarvey and husband Mike of Bonita Springs, FL, and Shelly Casper and husband Doug of Livingston, WI. He was a proud grandfather to Philip Sanders, Jordan Broemmeling and wife Anna, Samuel Broemmeling, Katie Stewart, Jory Ayers, and Jessy Ayers all of Spokane, WA and Sophia Stewart and James Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO. He also cherished his two great-grandchildren Leo Broemmeling and Elijah Broemmeling of Spokane, WA. Jim also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Jim graduated from Billings Senior High School and attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon. Jim earned a master's degree in theology from Phillips University in Enid, OK. He dedicated much of his life to serving others as a United Methodist minister in Montana. Later in life, he pursued his passion for gemstones as a gem dealer, combining his love of beauty and craftsmanship with his entrepreneurial spirit. He and Juliana had a gem and jewelry business and spent many years in California on the gem show circuit all along the West Coast. He and his wife Juliana then spent 20 years living in Owasso, OK where they conducted their gem and jewelry business online. He had a special passion for Oregon Sunstones and agates and was greatly admired by everyone who knew and worked with him in the gem, mineral, and agate community. He will be greatly missed by all his friends, family, and colleagues. Jim was moved to Spokane in 2023 to be near family to care for him in the last year and a half of his life. This was an invaluable time of bonding for Jim and his family.

Jim was an avid traveler and explored 16 different foreign countries throughout his lifetime. These journeys enriched his perspective and brought him immense joy. Jim's legacy is one of an artistic, passionate, adventurous spirit that inspired those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all whose lives he touched, and his legacy will live on.

A special, heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Autumn's Caring Home who lovingly cared for Jim in his final weeks of life.
