Stanley Szabat Obituary

Stanley was a funny, dependable, and loving man, known for his quick wit and signature one-liners that could light up any room. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always present, full of advice, laughter, and love for his children and granddaughter. He also lovingly cared for his wife, Michelle, throughout her illness.
Born Feb. 20, 1957, in Oil City, PA, he was the son of the late Leon and Stella Maj Szabat. Stanley graduated from Oil City High School in 1975. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Alaska and Virginia.
He married the former Michelle M. "Mickey" McGraw on Dec. 7, 1985, at St. Brigid's Church in Meadville; she preceded him in death on May 14, 2025.
Stan worked for many years as a claims adjuster for Cincinnati Insurance before retiring. After retirement, he challenged himself by returning to school to become a certified phlebotomist, showing his dedication and love of learning.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Salem, OH, as well as AMVETS and the Salem Eagles Club. He enjoyed golfing and spending quality time with his family.
Stan is survived by his three children: Stephanie Martinez and her husband Steven of Ft. Myers, FL; Bridget Howells of Charlotte, NC; and Christopher Szabat of Reynoldsburg, OH; and one granddaughter, Sophia. He is also survived by three sisters, Joanne Brzezinski and her husband Richard of New Castle; Donna Ziegler and her husband Mark of Seneca; and Susie Weiser and her husband Jack of Seneca; and one brother, John Szabat of Oil City.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son Scott Szabat and a brother, Teddy Szabat.
Friends will be received from 4:00–7:00 P.M. Thursday at Reinsel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Daniel Hoffman presiding. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Stan and I worked together for many years at the Cincinnati Insurance Company field claims department.
Stan was a strong worker who provided timely and professional claim service to
his accounts; with his own sense of humor and a caring spirit.
