Stanley Richard Wawerski III, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Rick was born on December 30, 1951 in Ottawa, IL to Stan and Shirley (Hawk) Wawerski. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a laborer out of Local 393. He loved shooting pool, hunting, fishing, fast cars and motorcycles. After the farm fields were plowed, he enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Stan and Devyn. His son, Rick, enjoyed the same hobbies, and they spent a lot of time doing them; they were best friends.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Janice) Wawerski IV of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Stan and Devyn Wawerski of Ottawa; his sister, Shelley Nixon of Marana, AZ; his nephews, Randy (Andrea) Boswell, Isaac Boswell, and Dante Boswell of Marana, AZ, Mike (Rachel) Bryce and Caleb Boswell of Pearland, TX; a great niece, Samantha Boswell of Bloomington, IL; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his great nephew, Zach Boswell, many aunts and uncles; Carol Clemens; and his sister, Susan Nixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy & Mike Boswell, Bill Hawk, James Wawerski, Bob Cokley, and Bryce Boswell.
A celebration of life will be held at the Ottawa VFW on Saturday, January 24, at 1:00pm. A private burial with full military honors will take place on January 26.
