Starla Dawn (Griffith) Blaylock, 67, of Gainesville, passed away on March 17, 2026, in Denison, TX.
Starla was born on November 17, 1958, in Gainesville, TX, and graduated from Gainesville High School.
She married the love of her life, Steve Blaylock, on March 10, 1978, in Gainesville, and they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage together.
Starla was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her husband, raising her three children, and loving her many grandchildren. She was a constant presence on social media, always sharing love, encouragement, and prayers with her family and friends. She was actively involved in multiple groups and clubs, most notably her passion for leading local chapters of the Carpenters fan community and her deep admiration for the Steve Perry fan club.
Starla was also known for her spontaneous spirit, often picking up and heading to Galveston with her husband to enjoy time together. She was a light in the lives of all who knew her. While her presence will be deeply missed, her joy, love, and kindness will be forever remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Blaylock; her sons, Cory Blaylock and fiancée Mary, and Trey Blaylock and fiancée Lachelle; her cherished grandchildren, Julius Blaylock, Adrian Blaylock, Emily Rankin, Ryan Blaylock, and Scarlet Blaylock; her sister, Lela Ward and husband Steve; her brother, David Griffith; and her brother, Johnnie Michael Griffith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi (Davis) Griffith; her father, Raymond Griffith; her daughter, Stephanie Blaylock; her brother, Brent Griffith; her sister, Rama Dean Hooper; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Griffith.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, followed by a committal service at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.
