Stella Irene Jeffires

A Bardstown resident, Mrs. Stella Irene Jeffires, age 88, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the residence of her son. She was born March 9, 1937 in Boston to the late Charlie and Rosie Mae Cundiff Vittitoe. She married Russell "Tadpole" Jeffires in 1953, was a homemaker and enjoyed working in the yard. She was a former employee of Holiday Inn, Sunbeam Laundry, Louisville Sewing Factory, and was a member of Boston Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell "Tadpole" Jeffires and a son, Danny Jeffires.

She is survived 2 daughters, Judy Crane of New Haven, Nancy Ulrich (Chuck Wathen) of Bardstown, 2 sons, Jimmy Jeffires of Elizabethtown, Wayne (Terrie) Jeffires of New Haven, 2 sisters, Sheila (Jack) Campbell, Annie (Basil) Smith, both of Bardstown, her brother Odell (Carolyn) Vittitoe of Campbellsville, 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Irene Jeffires will be 11:00 am Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Chaplain Terry Troutman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Friday after 8:30 am until time of the funeral service. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
