Stella Contogogou Kiritsy

Stella Contogogou Kiritsy, 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. Born in 1928 in Keene, NH, she lived in Venice and Nokomis, Florida during the winter months before eventually moving there full time. She then relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC in 2011. She was the daughter of John Efthemiou Contas and Zadie (Zoi) Sharkovos Contas. She is survived by sons Stephen Perry Kiritsy, his wife Dawn and grandchildren Zachary Stephen and Matthew Brian, Michael John Kiritsy and grandchildren Kailey Ryan, Alexander Michael, Griffin Thomas, and Tess Victoria, James Charles Kiritsy and grandchildren Perry James, and Jack Peter. She is also survived by sister-in-law Sultana Toli and her husband Peter and their daughter Andriana, many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Stella was predeceased by her brothers Gregory and Charles Contas, James Condon, sister Rachel Conides and sisters-in-law Genevieve Condon, Kathrine Contas, and Georgia Contas.

Stella graduated from Keene schools, including Keene Teachers College, prior to being renamed Keene State College. After graduation, she taught elementary school for a time before settling in to be mother to Stephen, Michael and James and wife to Perry. She was an avid gardener in her younger days and had a large, beautiful garden in Keene at her home on Court St. that she worked on together with her friend and neighbor, Eloise Watson.

Stella also loved to play golf and did so for decades, playing in the Women's Golf association at Keene Country Club. While her husband Perry never had a hole-in-one, not only did she make a hole-in-one, in Bermuda no less, but she was also a Ladies Club Champion at Keene Country Club as well! She also loved to play bridge and played often both in Florida and New Hampshire with her husband Perry.

A Memorial Service will be held at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Keene, NH on July 6, 2025 at 10:00am. If you wish to donate in Stella's memory, please send it to Friends of Caroline, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
