Stella Krukowski

Stella (Cutone) Krukowski, 89, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Brightwood Center in Follansbee, WV. Born October 3, 1919 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline Dul Zak. She was also preceded in death by her first husband John Cutone on May 15, 1970, second husband Ted L. Krukowski on October 8, 2005, brothers John, Stanley, Joe, Alex and Bernard Zak and sister Vickie Fisher. Stella graduated from West Liberty State College and attended the University of Steubenville and the Kentucky Dance Institute at Morehead State University. She taught at Marland Heights School from 1941-1946 and the Millsop School from 1963-1964. She also organized and taught the first modern western-style square dance club in Weirton and was a member of the AARP Chapter 3846, Three Score Senior Club and the Fun Seekers Club. Mrs. Krukowski is survived by her son Richard Cutone and his wife Patty of Weirton; daughter Shirley Cothran and her husband Michael of Naples, FL and four grandchildren Brooke, Mallory and Alexis Cutone and Brian Cothran. Friends will be received Sunday 1-3 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11am Monday. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
