Stella Kate Watson Raybon, age 94, passed away on March 24, 2025. She was born on August 29, 1930, in Brewton, Alabama, to Lewis (Bud) and Minnie Minchew Watson. She lived most of her life in Mobile, Alabama, with her husband of 70 years, JW Raybon. Stella is survived by her daughter, Debbie Raybon Andress, and son, Jeff (Kelly) Raybon. Her legacy will live on in her seven surviving grandchildren, Nicole (Stephen) Landry, Shelley (George) Naman, Kati (Evan) Lancaster, Keegan (Robby) McWhorter, Kandace Raybon, and Jeffrey (Abbie) Raybon; fourteen great-grandchildren, Joshua (Katherine), Matthew (Samantha), and Noah (Julianna) Landry; Trace, Caroline, and Riley Kate Naman; Ethan and Reagan Andress, Raybon and Mara Lancaster; and Stella, Pemberley, August, and Louis McWhorter; her sister, Evelyn Vaughan; sisters-in-law, Maxine Watson and Maedale Watson; Amanda Burns, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, JW, son, Mike Raybon, grandson, Ashley Andress, parents, four brothers, two sisters, and special friends, Curtis and Margaret Jackson.
Stella was actively involved in church throughout her life. She was a member of Forest Hill Church of God and previously a member of Crafton Church of God, Prichard/Lakeview Assembly of God, and Knollwood Assembly of God, with which she frequently traveled on mission trips to Central America. She taught for ten years at Evangel Christian. She will best be remembered as a Godly and devoted wife, mom, and Measie.
Services will be held Saturday, March 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Joshua Landry, Matthew Landry, Trace Naman, Noah Landry, Ethan Andress, and Raybon Lancaster. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffrey Raybon, Stephen Landry, George Naman, Evan Lancaster, Robby McWhorter, and August McWhorter.
