Stephanie "Sug" Vespoint Barthelemy, 66, passed away February 18th, 2026 at Stonewall Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV with her husband by her side. She was born on May 17, 1959, in Clarksburg, WV, the youngest daughter of the late Joseph Anthony and Helen Virginia McKeen Vespoint.

She is survived by her husband of forty one years, Larry Barthelemy, three sisters, Teri Johnson of Charleston, SC, Delia Tillman of Norcross, GA, Lynne Vespoint (Olivia Shuttleworth) of Morgantown, WV, one nephew, Joseph (Jennifer) Mines of Canton, GA, one niece, Anessa (Eric) Back of Lavonia, GA, one grandnephew, Joseph Mines, and three grandnieces, Elise Mines and Carter Mines, all of Canton, GA, and Aeryn Back of Lavonia, GA. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Patty Sigley, Donna Freeman (Dave) and Linda Biddle (Kenny) all of Grafton, nieces Amy Turner of Oak Grove, Sarah Maxwell of Tunnelton, nephew Ryan McNemar of Thornton, Bridgette Biddle of Oak Grove, Joshua Biddle and Travis Biddle, both of Trap Springs, as well as several uncles, aunts, and cousins. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Olivia, Doolittle, Midnight, and Mama Gray.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Kimball Whitfield of Charleston, SC. and Marvin Sigley of Grafton, WV.

Stephanie graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1977. She attended West Virginia Business College and was a graduate of the WV Division of Corrections Academy.

Stephanie retired with 26 years of service as a correctional officer at the Pruntytown Correctional Center where she was named Employee of the Year in 2010. She was also employed by Go Mart in Bridgeport, WV for many years during and following her employment at PCC. In addition, she worked at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) store in Clarksburg, WV, Fancher's Fresh Meat in Shinnston, and McDonald's and Foodland, both in Grafton, WV.

With her kind spirit and generosity, Stephanie was best known for caring for others, always ready to help anyone who needed or asked, never putting herself first. She was also known for her sense of humor, once stating that her mission was to make someone laugh every day. She loved going to the beach and going for walks at the Barthelemy family farm in Thornton, WV.

Stephanie was currently residing at Crestview Manor Healthcare Center in Jane Lew, WV. The family wishes to thank her therapists Marlee Stout and LeeAnn Coffield, for their diligent care of Stephanie, and therapy dog Toby, for never failing to brighten her day.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that in her memory, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. with her brother-in-law, Dave Freeman presiding. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
