Stephanie Gillette was born on January 31, 1971, in
Los Angeles, CA, to G. Russell Gillette and Elaine Antone. She was raised with strong family values and a love for her culture, values she carried throughout her life.
Growing up, Stephanie attended Edwin Loe Elementary School, Theodore Jamerson Elementary School, and Junior High in
Bismarck, ND. She later earned her GED from Fort Berthold Community College. Hardworking and determined, she moved to
Denver, CO to attend Concorde Career College, where she trained as a Dental Assistant. While in Denver, she met her husband, Lauvaghn Moore.
Steph's career as a Dental Assistant took her to
Rapid City, SD and later back home to Fort Berthold, where she worked at Indian Health Service in New Town. She also served as an Office Assistant at the Four Bears Casino & Lodge. Everywhere she worked, Steph was known for her warm spirit and joking manner.
Stephanie was a loving mother, aunty and grandma. In 2009, she welcomed her first child, Oaklee Dane, whom she affectionately called "Lovekinz." Her daughter, Juliyah Jordan, lovingly known as "JuJu", was born in 2014. In 2019, her grandson Jahseh, affectionately called "Sonshine," joined the family. Steph's love for her children and grandkids was unmistakable. She was the biggest supporter, cheering them on at powwows, basketball games, or other sporting events- always loud and always proud!
A champion Traditional dancer, Stephanie traveled throughout the United States and Canada with her dad and family to compete at powwows. She was a prayerful person and loved her ways.
Steph was an avid dart player, winning regional and national titles. She also enjoyed volleyball, pool, softball, fishing, powwows, traveling, and making friends wherever she went. Stephanie loved to laugh and joke, and she was known for her warm hugs and bright smile. Every text or message she sent ended the same way: "Love you."
In 2020, Steph's dad, Russell, moved back home with her. She and the kids lovingly cared for him until his passing. During that time, their bond with their papa grew even stronger, and Stephanie missed him dearly after he passed.
Steph lived a life full of love, laughter, and family togetherness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She passed away on February 7, 2026.
